Just a quick catch up as a club. It has been a very good start to the season as a whole for the club with the senior squads starting their season in good form and the minis and juniors developing well under the keen eye of some fantastic coaches.
I will start with the seniors and say well done to all players who have played so far. We had a very challenging pre-season and we came out of it looking like a team who have the potential to develop further and challenge. The 1st XV have had a very good unbeaten start to the season with a squad who's average age is under 21! Players have been selected on their commitment and also their ability with a few punishing sessions pushing lads to the edge which the team ethic has been built and a no excuses environment and a 'pat on the backside' closeness. The 2nd XV have also started brightly under the stewardship of Wally and it is this team where the youngsters are being given their opportunity to be exposed to senior rugby, which in turn is churning out quality players for the step up to first team. Well done too all so far but we have only just begun our journey. With training numbers being as high as they are currently, it only breeds competition and keeps players on their toes. Well done too the 10 players so far this season who have made their first team debuts!
As for the minis, juniors and colts there has been a great enthusiasm around the club and it is clear to see that with the quality of coaching you are receiving, you all have that ability to make the step up and play a brand of rugby which you can all be proud of.
Well done to all coaches, players, managers, parents, supporters, bar/kitchen staff and volunteers on a great start to the season and lets ADVANCE as a club, not individual teams. Good luck this weekend and LETS GO ENGLAND!!!!
